Fort Lauderdale has spent the last few years quietly building one of the better rooftop bar scenes in South Florida. The skyline has grown, the hotels have gotten more interesting, and the spots worth visiting have multiplied. If you haven't been up top lately, you're behind.

Here are the five worth your time right now.

Rooftop @1WLO — Downtown Las Olas

The original. Rooftop @1WLO opened in 2018 as downtown Fort Lauderdale's first rooftop bar, and it remains the local benchmark. Situated seven stories above Las Olas Boulevard at the One West Las Olas building, the 4,000-square-foot open-air patio looks out over the New River and the downtown skyline. The vibe is garden-in-the-sky — lush greenery, low lighting, craft cocktails that rotate seasonally.

Walk-ins are welcome, though weekends fill up. Sunday brunch runs noon to 4pm with bottomless options at $35 per guest.

Address: 1 W Las Olas Blvd, 7th Floor, Fort Lauderdale Hours: Wed–Thu 4pm–1am · Fri 4pm–2am · Sat 2pm–2am · Sun 12pm–10pm (closed Mon–Tue) Website: rooftop1wlo.com

Nubé Rooftop — Fort Lauderdale Beach

The highest and the only one directly on the beach. Nubé sits on the 26th floor of the Hilton Beach House Fort Lauderdale, and the views — ocean in one direction, city in the other — are the kind that stop a conversation. The wraparound glass balcony doesn't hurt.

It's run by the Restaurant People, the same group behind 1WLO and Yolo, so the cocktail program is serious. The food menu leans coastal American — shareable plates, wagyu bites, caviar if you're feeling it. DJs play nightly from 6pm. Reservations are recommended on weekends.

Address: 505 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd, 26th Floor, Fort Lauderdale Hours: Tue–Fri opens 2pm · Sat–Sun opens 11am · Happy hour Tue–Fri 2pm–6pm Website: nuberooftop.com

Sparrow — Flagler Village / Federal Highway

Sparrow is 25 stories above the Dalmar Hotel, which puts it above most of the FTL skyline with views that stretch toward the beach. The design is the differentiator here: mid-century modern meets coastal color palette, indoor-outdoor with a patio bar that feels genuinely distinctive. Cocktails are named after colors from the rainbow and made to share — large-format punches are a house specialty.

It's a 21+ venue, Thursday through Saturday. More intimate than 1WLO, better for a date night or a small group that wants a real bar experience with the altitude.

Address: 299 N Federal Hwy (The Dalmar Hotel), Fort Lauderdale Hours: Thu 5pm–midnight · Fri–Sat 5pm onward Website: sparrowbar.com

Escape Rooftop Bar — Fort Lauderdale Beach

The most sunset-specific bar in the city. Escape sits atop the Kimpton Shorebreak, faces west over the Intracoastal, and is designed around the hour when the sky goes orange. They run a Sunset Special daily — specialty cocktail and rosé — timed to the 30 minutes before and after sundown.

The food program is Mediterranean-leaning: tapas, garlic shrimp, octopus potato salad, mezze. Live DJs spin Fridays and Saturdays from 3pm to 7pm. Open daily from 11am, which makes it one of the more accessible options for an afternoon drink.

Address: 2900 Riomar St (Kimpton Shorebreak), Fort Lauderdale Hours: Daily 11am–9pm (Fri–Sat until 10pm) Website: shorebreakfortlauderdale.com

Ibis Sky Lounge — 17th Street Causeway / Marina District

The newest entry on this list. Ibis Sky Lounge opened in December 2025 atop the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel, overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway and the marina district. The interior leans polished — woven textures, warm wood, sculptural lighting — and the adults-only policy keeps the energy consistent with that.

It's positioned closer to the Convention Center corridor than the beach or downtown, which makes it a solid option if you're already in that part of the 954. Menu is globally-inspired small plates, cocktail-forward bar program. Dress accordingly — this is not a flip-flops situation.

Address: 1850 SE 17th St (Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel), Fort Lauderdale Website: omnihotels.com

The Bottom Line

For the best views: Nubé, 26 floors above the Atlantic. For the best downtown energy: Rooftop @1WLO, above Las Olas. For sunset specifically: Escape, west-facing and built for it. For a date night: Sparrow at the Dalmar. For something new: Ibis Sky, Fort Lauderdale's latest rooftop addition.

All five are open to the public. No membership, no hotel stay required — just show up.
